I found that my back was straighter and I felt more comfortable and did not slide forward with unsuported knees on a short seat desck chair when I used a footstool.
My footstool was moved out when we had a dinner party, because it was in the way and I work at the kitchen table.
By good luck I had a plastic washing up bowl under the desk. I kept catching my feet inside it.
